We never drove our Montana through Montana, but owning our Odyssey is already an odyssey.
Lee Gogel, the Crowfoot Village Honda sales and leasing consultant who sold us the vehicle, agrees with me that the minivan's dorky reputation is undeserved.
"I don't know why it's more acceptable to drive a gas-guzzling SUV. A minivan is more environmentally friendly and fuel efficient," Gogel says.
"And if what you're after is a people- mover, a minivan gives you much better access to the third row of seats, thanks to the large sliding door."
As a six-year veteran of the Honda sales game, Gogel has sold his fair share of minivans, but this total is far short of the carmaker's top seller -- the Civic. And while the Odyssey is among the more popular minivans in the nation, he's noticed a slight decrease in its sales recently.
